Meet Zach Smith, our Denver Studio Pro. He is a one-of-a-kind guy with a filmmaker’s eye and big ol’ heart.
How long have you been with soona?
What’s your background?
In the video/photography world? I didn’t really start moving professionally towards this industry until I went back to college at the Art Institute in Portland, Oregon, where I earned a BFA in digital film and video production. I graduated in 2012 and have been pursuing a career in videography/photography ever since through freelance work, passion projects and a brief stint working in government access TV.
What’s your favorite part about working at soona?
The challenge and ability to exercise my creativity/expertise and feeling valued for it. Plus, I love the team I get to work with every day and the variety of content we get to work on allows me to learn and grow constantly.
What do you love about the soona experience?
I love the joy of the interactive experience and the accessibility that professionally curated content creates. Seeing our clients’ real-time reaction to their beautiful content that we get to create with them is exciting and heartwarming.
What inspires you to get behind the lens?
The insatiable desire to create, capture and compose compelling imagery that provokes emotion and tells a story.
What is your karaoke song?
“Friends in Low Places” by Garth Brooks or “Come Together” by The Beatles
Where do you find inspiration?
In nature, traveling, watching movies, walking around the city, looking at other photographer’s work, listening to music, seeing other people’s art, and my own personal experience and observation.
Do you have a hidden talent?
Not sure if they are hidden talents but I have been drawing for as long as I can remember, started playing guitar when I was 13 and have been snowboarding since I was 9.
I’m overly competitive about:
I’m not a very competitively natured person but always love talking/debating about movies
